The Colors Of Topaz Pendants And Earrings
When shopping for topaz pendants or topaz earrings, consumers will find many different colors of jewelry to choose from. People usually think of an amber gold color when they think of topaz, but it can actually be white, cognac, pink, peach, yellow, orange, red, tan or brown. Some shades of topaz look better with silver, and some look better with 14 karat gold. There is even pale topaz jewelry that is enhanced so it appears to be blue or green.
White or colorless topaz is the largest and most common, which is found in Brazil, China, India, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. It is often complimented with silver. Brazil and Sri Lanka also are birthplaces to brown, red, dark pink, yellow, orange and sherry colored topaz, which are often paired with gold. Light pink topaz pendants are formed in Pakistan and Russia, and they are often used to make topaz earrings, as well. Pale topaz pendants can be irradiated in a lab to create a blue topaz, so the blue shade is not really naturally occurring.
The pale topaz is found in Brazil, China, Nigeria and Sri Lanka, and it is often paired with silver. The color of this gem is very pale to medium blue, and is not a dark blue color. It is also commonly used for topaz earrings. In 1998, gemologists also began surface-enhancing pale topaz to make it green, which ranges from a leaf green to an emerald green. Regardless of where it is found, what it is paired with, what shade it comes in or what processes are done to it, topaz is a beautiful material that should be on jewelry buyers' lists for years to come.
