Judging A Wedding Band On Its Manufacturing
When it comes to wedding bands and engagement rings all couples need to be careful about the choices that they make. If the bride is choosing a wedding band for the groom as well, than she needs to make a choice of the metal that will be used in the wedding band as well as whether it will be studded with precious stones. As most men do not like flash jewelry, silver personalized rings or platinum rings may be a good choice. The natural shine of platinum and the dull shine of the personalized silver ring give an understated look to men's wedding bands. However, if gold is the way that both couples want to go for their wedding bands than they can choose between 14 K yellow gold and 14 K white gold wedding bands. These bands can also be personalized. Often couples inscribe each others names in their wedding bands and at other times they inscribe some meaningful phrases. There are several techniques that jewelers use to manufacture 14 K gold rings. While it is not important for an individual to know these different techniques when it comes to buying a piece of 14 K gold jewelry, it is interesting to learn about the different techniques. The two basic types of wedding bands that are manufactured with 14 K gold and 22k gold are soldered and seamless wedding bands. In the case of the soldered 14 K gold rings, the individual manufactures the band from wire stock. The jeweler will take a pre-cut length of wire, the wire will then be formed around a ring mandrel to the required size, and the two ends soldered together. All that needs to be done is for the ring to be polished. In the case of seamless 22 K jewelry, the wedding bands are manufactured from cold worked tube, making them seamless and solder-joint-free. Ring "blanks" are cut from a long length of tube, machined to size and profiled to suit the individual's request.
