Palladium Takes Over From Platinum In Wedding Bands
While the combination of platinum with wedding ring diamonds may be a match made in heavens the combination of the most precious metal and natural stone also makes most jewelry out of the hands of a large number of people. Palladium which is a less expensive than platinum but has the same high intensity luster is now being used by a lot of jewelers for setting gemstone earrings and precious stone necklaces. The lower cost of palladium makes the jewelry more affordable and in many cases allows the customers to add more precious stones to the piece. Palladium wedding rings have become very common in China, United Kingdom and the United States over the last year. According to some jewelry reports, almost 14 per cent of gemstone earrings made last year used palladium as the base metal. Palladium wedding rings have become very popular recently. A lot of men are now choosing palladium wedding rings over silver wedding rings. The luster of the natural metal makes it more attractive. A lot of women who cannot choose platinum diamond wedding rings are also choosing to buy palladium wedding rings. One of the reasons that customers as well as jewelers love palladium is because it a pure material that is not fabricated or man made. Apart from the cost advantage another advantage that palladium has over platinum is that it is much lighter. Palladium is at least 40 per cent lighter than platinum. Because palladium is a lighter material, jewelry artists are able to create thinner and more delicate gemstone earrings with the metal. In addition, women do not worry about their ear lobes getting bigger because of the weight of the earrings. The advantage of palladium is that larger precious stone can be set into the earring or the necklace. Weight of the jewelry is not really going to be a problem.
